Still Alive!

Hi blog readers!

Just wanted to let you know I am, in fact, still alive. It’s been a month since my last post, and while I realize many bloggers out there go far longer than that without writing anything new, I have generally tried to post at least once a week. I’m sorry that that pace has fallen off the map lately. Everything’s okay; just been busy. A little bit of travel, a little bit of non-nutrition writing (the very rough draft of my novel may or may not have gotten finished), and a little bit of professional/career Jenga (okay, no, it was an all-out atom bomb…more on this in the coming weeks). It all adds up to me letting the blog collect dust for a bit.

I’ll be semi-off the-grid for the last two weeks of August, and I don’t see a whole lot of blogging getting done during that time, but I should be back on top of things in September. (I may or may not be spending that time working on a farm, and it may or may not be P.A. Bowen Farm, owned by Sally Fallon, president of the Weston A. Price Foundation. Just sayin’.)

I am hoping to get a post up this weekend, but no promises. If I do manage to post something, it will probably be a review of The Ketogenic Cookbook, by Jimmy Moore and Maria Emmerich. Jimmy mentions me by name in his acknowledgements sections, which kind of blows my mind, to be honest with you. (More details in the review post.)

I have tons of other post ideas in the works. I just need to carve out some time to write them. And no, I have not forgotten about the series on the metabolic theory of cancer. As you can imagine, though, those posts (some of them, anyway) take quite a bit of research. They typically take longer to write than posts about other topics, so when it’s crunch time to get something up on the blog, I’ve been gravitating toward subjects I can write about more quickly, such as the backlash against low-carb diets, and the battle over lower versus higher carbs in one’s diet. But rest assured, more cancer posts are on the way. In the meantime, if you’re champing at the bit for more on this subject, check out this recent paper from Poff, Seyfried, D’Agostino & colleagues. Freaking awesome stuff on combination therapy employing a ketogenic diet, hyperbaric oxygen, and exogenous ketone supplementation (in rats).

Thanks for hanging in there, everyone! When I tell people about my blog, I say that I have a small, but very loyal audience, and I am grateful for each and every one of you! (I hesitate to use the word “following.” Personally, I get a little creeped out when I hear people in the low-carb, keto, and Paleo worlds referred to as “thought leaders.” I mean, jeez…Kool-Aid doesn’t fall into any of those camps. Ha! Just kidding. But seriously, it makes me absolutely gush to think that I have a “following,” however small it may be, but if I start referring to people who read my blog as my “followers,” then I feel like I’m just a few steps away from buying a compound in the woods and inviting you all there to introduce you to my our new religion, where we worship bacon fat and excommunicate bran cereal and fat-free milk. Be sure to bring lots of coconut oil and canned fish; we might have to hole up here for a while, until the gub’mint leaves us alone...)

And remember, when the blog gets quiet, you can still follow find me on Twitter

Until next time…

  5. Another summer mystery solved. No problems being a small follower, better than being a big follower. Waist size does matter. : )

Keep on blogging, and whatever else makes life worthwhile.

  6. Hi Amy, that compound in the woods sounds great, sign me up. Bacon fat forever.

I had noticed your absence and was starting to wonder what had happened.
